AUTUMN PHOTOSHOOTS AT ASHRIDGE

Every autumn, the woodland at Ashridge Estate near Berkhamsted turns gold, copper and red. For a few short weeks the beech trees put on the best show in Hertfordshire, and it’s one of my favourite places in the county to photograph families.

An autumn mini photoshoot is your chance to get your family right in the middle of it — kicking through leaves, playing, and enjoying each other’s company in one of the most beautiful spots the Hertfordshire countryside has to offer, while I capture it all. Sessions last 20 to 30 minutes, just long enough to get gorgeous photos while the kids (and adults) have a great time.

What is a MINI SHOOT

A mini shoot is a short, focused photoshoot lasting 20 to 30 minutes, that gives you a small set of beautiful images without the time or cost of a full shoot. Mini shoots run at specific times of year, tied to a location or season, making them feel extra special. You book your slot and I’ll guide you through everything else. Sessions are designed to be fun for kids, so the whole thing moves at a pace that works for little ones with short attention spans and big energy. Spots are limited and the autumn colour window is short, so they fill fast.

IS A MINI PHOTOSHOOT RIGHT FOR YOU?

Perfect for families who want beautiful photos without the fuss.

For most families, a mini shoot is an affordable way to get some updated photos in a stunning location, without it taking over your whole day. I’m brilliant at getting the best out of children in the time we have for a mini session – I have a range of activities up my sleeve for kids who arrive full of beans and can’t stop moving, and for those who take a little longer to warm up and find their feet.

You know your child best though, and if you think they’d benefit from more time and space, a full family shoot might suit you better. A full family shoot gives you more time, more variety, a larger gallery of images, and the flexibility to choose your own location and time rather than working around mini session dates. Those can take place in the autumn colours at Ashridge too, if that’s what you’d love. Likewise, if you’re coming as an extended family group, a full shoot is the better fit.

We booked a mini photoshoot with Lyndsey and could not recommend her more. She was fantastic with our kids and I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed and friendly shoot.

QUESTIONS

All autumn mini shoots take place at Ashridge Estate, near Berkhamsted. I’ll confirm the exact spot a few days before your session, based on where the autumn colours are looking their best.

You’ll receive access to your online gallery within 14 days of your shoot. From there you can choose your favourites and order any extras.

Bluebell shoots are non-refundable, but if you need to cancel and I’m able to rebook your slot, I can offer a refund minus a £30 admin fee. If you need to reschedule, I’ll do my best to find you another date.

Overcast days actually make for lovely, rich autumn photos. If severe weather (usually heavy rain, sometimes strong wind) means the shoot can’t go ahead, you’ll receive a voucher for the full value of your session to use on any future mini shoot.

Comfort is key — you’ll be walking short distances in woodland, and if you have little ones you’ll likely be lifting, carrying and cuddling them too. Wear something you can actually move in, and footwear suitable for uneven, sometimes muddy ground — trainers or boots are great, avoid high heels. For outfits, my preference is for people to coordinate rather than match: pick a key colour and build around it. Warm earthy tones — mustard, rust, cream, olive, deep reds and denim — look beautiful against the autumn leaves. Layer up, especially for little ones; it can be cool in the woods on an autumn morning.

Yes, dogs are welcome at Ashridge and make for great autumn photos. Just let me know in the questionnaire I ask you to complete before your session.
